Passage: Romans 9:16

Salvation is not of man, but of God

So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy

(Romans 9:16)

Reader, the God of Moses [the True and Living God] reveals Himself as a sovereign independent God, who will be gracious to whom He will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom He will shew mercy, [Exodus 33:19]. Therefore hath He mercy on whom He will have mercy, and whom He will He hardeneth (Romans 9:18). That for His pleasure all things are and were created [Revelations 4:11]. That He doth what He will with His own, [Matthew 20:15] That He makes one vessel to honour, and another to dishonour; shews His wrath, and makes His power known, in enduring with much long-suffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction; and makes known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, afore prepared unto glory [Romans 9:21-23]. That His people are predestinated to the adoption of children, by Jesus Christ, to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will [Ephesians 1:5]. That He saves and calls them with an holy calling, not according to their works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given them in Christ Jesus, before the world began [2 Timothy 1:9]. That He worketh all things after the counsel of His own will [Ephesians 1:11]. That He doth whatsoever He pleaseth [Psalm 115:3]. Who doeth according to His own will in the army of heaven, and among the in habitants of the earth, and none can stay His hand, or say, what doest thou? [Daniel 4:35]. This is a description of God, worthy of Him. Does [this revelation of the MOST HIGH [sound like] a God that is obliged to wait upon His creatures? [Does He beg] them to be His children, to be saved, to receive His mercy, to accept His grace, to obey His calls, and, after all, "almighty man" (As one of the Arminian [free-will] poets refers to man) does not choose it;…therefore, God is disappointed? [Those in free-will religion] inform us: man has [the] will and power to choose and refuse; therefore, God must be dependent upon them. They say that there is none in hell but what might be saved if they [only let God]: though God [declares,] “…it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy” (Romans 9:16). This dependent god, is not the independent sovereign Jehovah God, therefore, an idol, and they are all adulterers who worship it
