Passage: 1 Peter 3:21

The Answer Of A Good Conscience

…the answer of a good conscience toward God,
by the resurrection of Jesus Christ

(1 PETER 3:21)

Beloved, we are saved by Christ Jesus the Lord, the answer of a good conscience toward God (indeed my answer of a good conscience, your answer of a good conscience) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In Christ’s righteousness we stand not guilty, indeed holy before God; and by Christ’s redemption we are cleansed of all our sins. (1 JOHN 1:9)

Beloved, every and all accusations against us, no matter if the accusation comes forth from the Law of God, or indeed even if our heart condemn us—we are found of Him in peace, without spot, and blameless. (1 JOHN 3:20, 2 PETER 3:14)

For our heavenly Father hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. (2 CORINTHIANS 5:21)

Just as safe and sound as Noah was in the Ark, so too is that sinner who believes on the Lord Jesus Christ. For in Christ the sinner is found safe and sound from the holy demands of God’s Holy Law, and safe and sound from God’s Holy Wrath against sin.

Friend do you have a problem? I pray the Lord in love and mercy will show you, you don’t merely have a problem, but rather you are the problem!

As it is written—you are not righteous. [See ROMANS 3:10]

As it is written—you are not good. [See PSALM 14:3]

Indeed our Lord declares—you are evil. [See MATTHEW 7:11]

But blessed be God, the believing sinner has the answer of a good conscience toward God through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Believing sinner, your sin was made His sin and He put it away by the sacrifice of Himself (HEBREWS 9:26). Beloved, God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement (ROMANS 5:8-11).

That word ‘atonement’, can be understood as the oneness. By the oneness we have with Christ, Christ’s good conscience as a man, has been made ours. So that a believing sinner can say, ‘though I don’t have a good conscience in my flesh; by the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, I know that by His righteous life and by His redeeming death, I have the answer to God of a good conscience by the resurrection of Jesus Christ by His Spirit [ROMANS 8:1].

Now if you would have a good conscience toward God, believe His Son and quit looking to yourself. May our Heavenly Father graciously show you, that every demand God’s Holy Law makes of a sinner like you and a sinner like me, our Heavenly Father has made Christ Jesus the answer for you before Him in love.

Beloved, of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. AMEN! (1 CORINTHIANS 1:30-31)
