Passage: Joshua 2:10 & 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12

The Difference Grace Makes

For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed

(JOSHUA 2:10)

According to the record of Rahab the harlot, the city of Jericho heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for the nation of Israel (JOSHUA 2:10). Obviously, what had been proclaimed in that city was blessed to her by the Holy Spirit and in regenerating grace, by faith, she proclaimed to the spies, “the LORD your God, He is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath” (JOSHUA 2:11). Scripture declaring that she was justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way (JAMES 2:25), we know that this woman was an object of God’s mercy. But when the men sent from the king of Jericho asked Rahab about the spies and their whereabouts...because they received not the love of the truth, that obviously had been miraculously proclaimed in that city, they received exactly what they wanted and judicially deserved...a lie. Hearing the Gospel of God’s free grace in Christ and refusing to believe leaves a man justly under the wrath of God. “And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness” (2 THESSALONIANS 2:10-12).
