…He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, 
he hath both the Father and the Son

(2 JOHN 1:9)

Charles Spurgeon once wrote “…I love to proclaim these strong old doctrines, that are called by nickname Calvinism, but which are surely and verily the revealed truth of God as it is in Christ Jesus.”

Well, that may be its nickname however, I’m sure Calvin would agree that we ought to call it by it’s proper name. What name might that be? The Doctrine of Christ, for it is not Calvin’s teaching but rather the Lord’s.

Why is it so important for us to receive, indeed to love these blessed truths? The apostle John tells us very plainly, “Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.” (2 JOHN 1:9)

Be sure you receive it, for whosoever does not abide, whosoever does not continue, in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God! Read and consider the doctrine of our Lord. May he grant you grace to receive it, for if you do not receive His doctrine, you most certainly do not receive Him.

Total Depravity

“…out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness…without ME ye can do nothing” [Read MARK 7, JOHN 15]

Unconditional Election

Limited Atonement

Irresistible Grace

“…HE saith unto him, Follow ME. And he arose, and followed HIM…no man can come unto ME, except it were given unto him of my Father” [Read MATTHEW 9, JOHN 6]

Perseverance of the Saints

“…I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish…It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.” [Read JOHN 10, REVELATION 21]
