Passage: Matthew 19:25-26

“With God all things are possible”

When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible

(MATTHEW 19:25-26)

In Luke 11 the Lord Jesus told a parable of the unclean spirit going out of a man, and then returned bringing seven other spirits more wicked than him. He then said: “the last state of that man is worse than the first” (MATTHEW 12:45, LUKE 11:26). His state is worse, but [is] that man [beyond] the saving power of Christ?

Thank God, Christ is able to save even those in the worst state: “with God ALL THINGS are possible” (MATTHEW 19:26, MARK 10:27). We read of “Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven devils” (MARK 16:9). Then we are told of the man of the Gadarenes out of whom He cast a legion (maybe a thousand) of devils [LUKE 8:30-39].

The “Gospel of Christ…is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth” (ROMANS 1:16). In this day of apostasy when many have turned aside unto fables, let us boldly declare God’s truth. God is still the sovereign Lord God, who chose a people in Christ before the foundation of the world to salvation [2 TIMOTHY 1:9, EPHESIANS 1:3-7]. The Lord Jesus Christ is still the Good Shepherd who gave His life for His sheep. The Holy Spirit is still using the Gospel in saving chosen sinners: “with God all things are possible.”
