Blessed Are They That Mourn

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted

(MATTHEW 5:4)

I am persuaded that generally they mourn most who have most assurance. And all true gospel-mourners will be found to have the root of assurance so ingrafted in them, that in its proper season (a time of trouble) it will undoubtedly flourish. [What a death-blow does this short paragraph give to the religion of those who profess to be ever full of assurance, and yet know nothing of a mourning spirit!]
