Passage: Galatians 3:11-14 & Acts 13:48

Christ Hath Redeemed Us!

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree

(GALATIANS 3:13)

Robert Hawker made this comment on Galatians chapter 3 verse 13 (with 2 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 21 in view) he wrote “Christ, the holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens, first made sin, and then a curse! He who knew no sin, made sin for us; that we, who know no righteousness, and literally have none, should be made the righteousness of God in Him.”

Beloved, it was by the Lord Jesus Christ being made a curse, being made sin for us, that we are redeemed from the curse of the law. Now, our Lord was not separated from the Father, but upon Him was laid the sins of His people, because as the scripture says cursed is everyone that hangs upon a tree.

In effect Paul is telling us, that Christ died that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles through Jesus Christ.

What is the blessing of Abraham that Christ obtained by His death on the cross? It’s the same blessing that Abraham enjoyed—it is being declared just before God, justified “in the sight of God” by the body and blood of Christ Jesus the Lord (GALATIANS 3:11).

Beloved, our being justified in God’s sight, does not come through Moses, it does not come through the law, it does not come through ceremony—but rather it comes only through Jesus Christ our Lord. Indeed, the blessing of Abraham comes upon those ordained to eternal life and they shall believe (ACTS 13:48).

Beloved, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith” (GALATIANS 3:13-14). AMEN!
