He Is Able To Save Them

…He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him,
seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them

(Hebrews 7:25)

Reader, are you able to rejoice in this blessed description of the redeeming work of the Lord Jesus Christ? Beloved believing sinner, He is able to save you to the uttermost! What the Old Testament priesthood was unable to do, being but a shadow and not the substance, the Son of God being the reality of redemption is able to save His people to the uttermost! And not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own precious blood, by the sacrifice of Himself.

Beloved believing sinner, He put away your sin, and in so doing, it may be said, of a truth, He has saved His people to the uttermost! [Hebrews 9:26].

The Holy Spirit sets forth that our Lord Jesus saves His people “to the uttermost”; and why is that? To teach us that salvation is by Him, and only Him, indeed salvation is of the LORD! (Jonah 2:9). Any message that teaches that you must do your part and the Lord will do the rest to save you, is no gospel at all! Rather this word uttermost tells us that the Lord is ALL OF OUR SALVATION; indeed He is the author and finisher of it. For He takes His people (men, women, and children) who are dead in trespasses and sins and saves them to the uttermost!

Well, who exactly does He do this for? Friend, He does this for those sinners who are ever looking to Him for all of their salvation, those who are ever “looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2). AMEN!
