Passage: Matthew 8:2-3 & Matthew 7:11

“I will—be thou clean”

…behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed

(MATTHEW 8:2-3)

Reader, come to Christ, like the leper who came to the Lord Jesus Christ, worshipping Him, confessing the Lord’s ability and not his own—“Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean” (MATTHEW 8:2).

Come as you are, one ruined by sin, impotent to cleanse yourself, desperately needful to have your sins removed and cleansed by the Lord Jesus Christ alone. He came into the world to save sinners not pretenders (1 TIMOTHY 1:15). Dear evil* reader, come to Christ, for He alone takes away the sin of sinners (MATTHEW 1:21, JOHN 1:29). How do you come to Him? You come to Him, confessing “Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean”—for He alone justifies sinners, He alone can make you clean.

Sinner, believe Christ, believe on Him—in His ability to cleanse and justify a dirty, filthy, leprous sinner like you and like me, and receive His cleansing regenerating touch. Come to Christ, He is the Way of Salvation. Call on Christ, He is the Confession of Salvation. Believe on Christ, Salvation is trusting Him to be cleansed according to His holy will and good pleasure and not your own (JOHN 1:12-13, PHILIPPIANS 2:13).

* “If [you] then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”our Lord and God, Jesus Christ
