Passage: John 1:47 & John 1:47

Innocent = without guile

When l was researching this word, guile, I came upon its use in the dictionary. The Webster's New World College Dictionary defines the word innocent as 'without guile'. I cannot think of a better definition or interpretation of our Lord's words.

When our Lord beheld Nathanael, a man no different than you or me, a sinner in need of a saviour; what a blessed thing to hear from our Lord; "Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!", behold one of Christ's prescious sheep, washed in the blood of the Lamb, slain from before the foundation of the world!

Nathanael, as it is with all of God's elect, are before Him, without guile; holy, blameless, innocent in their substitue, Christ Jesus the Lord. (2 CORINTHIANS 5:21, 1 THESSALONIANS 3:13)
