Passage: 2 Corinthians 5:21

Made Sin, Made Righteous, Made Free!

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him

(2 CORINTHIANS 5:21)

Beloved, we read in 2nd Corinthians chapter 5 and in verse 21 how our Heavenly Father made His sinless, spotless, well pleasing Son to be sin for us, He who knew no sin, did no sin, and had no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Do you understand what this means beloved? It means that our Heavenly Father has so throughly, so completely imputed the sins of His people to His well pleasing Son that our Lord now calls them “mine iniquity” and further, says of our sin that He “will be sorry for” them [PSALM 38:18]. In this great transaction of the new covenant, whereby the Son of God is made to be sin for us, we are further taught of God, that so throughly, so completely has the righteousness of Christ been imputed to His people, that they are made the very righteousness of God in Him. Now do I see that in myself? No, but I do believe it. Indeed, though no mortal can now see it, I am now at this very moment by His undeserved grace, united to God’s darling Son, well pleasing in His sight. You see believing sinner, He took away our guilt and He gave us His glory—He took away our ruin and He gave us His righteousness. “Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world” (1 JOHN 4:17) So beloved believing sinner “Stand fast…in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage” (GALATIANS 5:1). AMEN!
